Update…
I had a fantastic response to my guest post on Carol’s blog (see details below). As of now the comment count stands at 37.
And the call with Carol had some great questioners from listeners. Carol and I discussed my freelance writing niche (writing college textbook supplements), and then we had some fun and insightful back-and-forth about how to be productive and successful freelance writer.
Thank You: to everyone who asked a question on the guest post or on the call, or who just read the guest post or listened on the call. And a major thank-you to everyone who purchased a copy of Writing College Textbook Supplements: The Definitive Guide to Winning High-Paying Assignments in the College Textbook Publishing Market, second edition.
Original Post…
I hope my American readers all had a great Fourth of July. I definitely did!
I have two important announcements this week…
1. My Guest Post on Carol Tice’s Blog
Please go read my guest post on Carol Tice’s Make A Living Writing blog about my freelance writing specialty: creating supplementary materials for college textbooks. Carol is one of my favorite bloggers about freelance writing. She is definitely making a good living as a writer, and she’s also a successful online entrepreneur.
2. My Live Call with Carol Tice on Wednesday, July 6th, Noon Pacific
As an ex-college instructor I love to talk about things that really interest me, so I’m honored to be Carol’s guest on The Freelance Writer’s Free-for-All this Wednesday, July 6, noon Pacific. You can ask anything you like of either me or Carol by submitting your question when you register. I’m happy to take questions about being a freelance writer for college textbook publishers and also anything having to do with freelance writing, including improving time management, increasing productivity, and finding the balance between work and the rest of life.
The call is free, but you must register.
Also, during the call we’ll be giving away one free copy of each of my ebooks: Writing College Textbook Supplements: The Definitive Guide to Winning High-Paying Assignments in the College Textbook Publishing Market, second edition, and Intelligent Productivity for Freelance Writers: Manage Your Time, Make More Money, and Get More Enjoyment From Life.

Hi John, I liked the interview. I didn’t know that people can make these figures working as freelance writer. This post opened my eyes 🙂 Thanks.
John Soares says
I’m glad the interview was so useful to you Melanie. Not many people know about this niche, how well it pays, and how relatively easy it is to break into it.

Congratulations, John! I’m off to reading your post on Carol’s blog.
P.S. I’m hoping to guest-blog for her, and right now I’m obsessing over my outline. If you have any tips for a good outline, it will be appreciated:)
Thanks,
Pinar

I hope you enjoy my guest post Pinar.
For outlines I first make a list of my main points in the order I want to make them, and then I add int sub-points. Good luck!
